Baker’s Assistant – Cake Days A Week

​

We are looking for a Baker’s Assistant to work at our Cake Days A Week bakery studio located in Glasgow. This is a three-month trial position with a view to a permanent role.

 

The ideal candidate should have at least one year of professional bakery experience, but we also encourage self-taught and home bakers to apply, as long as you can provide us with pictures of your previous creations and we agree that they meet our standards.

Roles and responsibilities:

​

Your main role will be assisting our head baker with daily duties of:

• Cooking and preparation of cakes, cupcakes and other items;

• Supporting the decoration and finishing of cakes, cupcakes and other items;

• Cleaning and maintaining the baking area;

• Emptying and storing packaged ingredients;

• Maintaining and sanitising baking tools, machinery and utensils;

• Assisting with any other cooking and food preparation.

The ideal candidate:

​

Essential for us will be great communication skills and great team working skills, but you should also have:

• A deep passion for baking, cooking and food;

• A willingness to learn; 

• A punctual, responsible and committed character; 

• Strong references.

We want to work with you if you are all of the above and you are looking to work as part of a team creating inspirational centrepieces for weddings, birthdays and special events.

Benefits:

​

• £9.50 rate per hour depending on your experience and performance;

• 10-15 hours per week dependant on workload;

Once we have reviewed your CV, we will ask you to attend a first interview (most likely through a video call) to explore a bit more about your baking experience and background. If you are successful, you will be called for a face-to-face interview and assessment where you will be given a set of tasks to perform in a certain amount of time. Following success at this stage, you will be offered the position.
